JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. -- Even though Governor Cuomo isn't planning to address hydrofracking in his State of the State address, thousands of anti-fracking activists from across New York are heading to Albany to make their message clear to lawmakers.

Dozens of people left from the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City Wednesday morning to protest the natural gas drilling process at the state Capitol. This group is only one of many that plan to protest today. They say their goal is to protect New York's clean water resources, air quality and property values.

"We've been following him all around the state to tell him we don't want this heavy industry in our backyards. This SGEIS is completely flawed, fatally flawed. You're putting the political process ahead of the science and ahead of our health," said Isaac Silberman-Gorn, anti-fracking activist.

Late last year, the DEC proposed new, revised hydrofracking regulations. The public comment period on those regulations is open for a few more days.
