NEW YORK STATE -- Senator Joseph Griffo says he's impressed with what he heard from Governor Andrew Cuomo regarding Upstate New York, but stresses the importance of following through with the proposals.

In his speech, Cuomo said that the area needs both investments and more assistance. But Griffo says he wants to see those words put into action.

"I think that we are primed and now we need to have the support and help of our statewide elected officials to steer people in that direction. So that's encouraging today and that's another positive sign, but we really need to work hard and make it happen," said Griffo.

Griffo would also like to see the state highlight SUNY IT after recently ramping up its nano-tech sector.
