CAMILLUS, N.Y. -- Two people were injured in a crash in the Town of Geddes.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's office says Brian White, 21, pulled over on Route 695 to adjust his car's hood, which wasn’t properly shut. A second car that had been following White pulled over to help.

That's when deputies say Dorothy McGivern, 81, hit White's car, throwing both White and Alex Werchinski, 17, about 20 feet onto the side of the road. They were both taken to Upstate University Hospital for treatment. There is no word yet on their conditions.

Deputies say McGivern, who was uninjured in the collision, didn't realize that the merge lane ended and was driving in the shoulder of the road when she hit the car. She was ticketed for crossing a hazard line.
