ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Regional State of the State messages were delivered throughout the state Thursday. The Commissioner of the State Office of General Services, RoAnn Destito, was passing on Governor Cuomo's message for the New Year in the Mohawk Valley.

Destito says the governor's focus on Upstate in 2013 could mean big progress for the region. Several of the governor's proposals focus on local products, which could bolster businesses in the area. And Destito says tourism could make major strides with a new marketing plan and three new upstate casinos.

"Casinos will be marketed to the downstate visitors and tourists in New York City. So the marketing plan will work to promote what we have [in] Upstate New York already and the three casinos will be a competition and the request has to come from the region," Destito said.

The governor's message also touched on education and workforce development to help create more jobs in New York.
