UTICA, N.Y.-- Bibs for the 36th Annual Boilermaker Road Race go on sale this weekend and people are already making preparations, including Senator Charles Schumer.

Schumer was in Utica Thursday calling for the return of the Boilermaker's after party F-16 flyover. F-16s flew over the after party every year from 2002 to 2009, but the wing who performed the flyovers left Syracuse that year.

Schumer says he's pressing the Secretary of the Air Force to provide the planes in a way that cost won't be an issue.

"What's mandatory is they do training missions. So they can plan a training mission on the day of the Boilermaker and fly right over us. It wouldn't cost the taxpayers more and there wouldn't be anything in their way. We have four wings of F-16s that are within 500 miles: One in Vermont, one in Pennsylvania, one in New Jersey, one in Massachusetts," Schumer said.

Places in this year's Boilermaker will go on sale on Saturday on line at Boilermaker.com.
