FULTON, N.Y. -- Some good news that could mean new jobs for Oswego County. The Fulton factory that once housed the Birds Eye food processing plant has been sold.

City Mayor Ronald Woodward says it was purchased for $1.2 million.

The new owner's name has not been released. Mayor Woodward says they want to announce that information when they open in about six months.

The company plans to hire 183 people and will give former Birds Eye employees first consideration.

Birds Eye closed the facility in December of 2011, leaving nearly 300 people unemployed.
