MARCY, N.Y. -- If you've had a tough time getting your house warm enough this week, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand says she might have a solution.

The Senator called for the president to add about $210 million to funding for weatherization assistance Friday.

She says with cold temperatures and a cold economy many families are having trouble heating their homes.

Gillibrand hopes the extra funding will help people in making their homes energy efficient, and also help the economy.

"That money is (going) right back into the local economy, because our local construction workers do the weatherization, our local manufacturers create the energy efficient appliances, it makes a difference," Gillibrand said.

The senator says weatherization can save the average family up to $400 per year on heating and cooling.
