UTICA, N.Y.-- Tax season has begun and Congressman Richard Hanna is joining several Utica groups to encourage people to get as big of a return as possible.

The groups are volunteering to give people free tax assistance at the Resource Center for Independent Living in Utica.

They say last year, they helped people claim millions of dollars, but there are still millions out there.

Their volunteers are IRS certified to help anyone with an income of $50,000 or less, but the volunteers say they're getting a good deal back, too.

"I like hearing peoples' stories, but the look on somebody's face when you can get them thousands of dollars back that they didn't otherwise know they were entitled to. It really feels good," project coordinator Danny Mclain said.

They'll be working Tuesdays through Saturdays by appointment through April 15th. You can make an appointment by calling (315) 272-1888.
