UTICA, N.Y. -- A 1.9 percent water rate increase in the Mohawk Valley doesn't seem to have many people concerned.
The Mohawk Valley Water Authority held a public meeting in Utica Monday and only one resident came.
The authority says the hike comes following a $300,000 increase in retirement payments, insurance and workers compensation.
New rates will mean $6 per year for a family of four.
The board will be voting on this year's budget next Tuesday.
