ALBANY, N.Y. -- "They did a wrong thing and I think it should be repealed," said Bob Pesout of Walton.

Hundreds of gun rights activists are delivering that message to Governor Cuomo and state lawmakers about the New York SAFE Act, saying the recently signed law punishes once legal gun owners.

"Now all of a sudden with the stroke of a pen it's illegal, so you're turning me into a criminal," said Pesout.

"I think it was disgusting how it was handled, in the middle of the night," said Veronica Smith of Clifton Park.

The law bans military style guns and sets a seven round limit for magazines, but some say it's a veiled gun confiscation order.

Rob Arrigo of Campaign for Liberty said, "90 percent of all guns, handguns, are automatically banned because they don't make seven round magazines for handguns."

But, as protesters assert their Second Amendment rights outside the Capitol, inside, gun control advocates offer messages of support.

"[Lawmakers] passed just an incredible package of landmark gun laws that actually will make a difference," said Robyn Ringler, who leads the Capital District chapter of New Yorkers Against Gun Violence.

The group hopes the new laws will prevent another tragedy like Newtown.

"The other side of this question, they make themselves very obvious," said Judy Beck of Floral Park. "We have to make ourselves obvious too, and we're the majority."
