Woman sentenced for health, insurance fraud
UTICA, N.Y. -- A Utica woman has been sentenced to prison for committing insurance and health care fraud.
Cynthia Morgan, 54, will serve just over two years behind bars after admitting to staging a car crash in Utica in 2006. She claimed to have been injured in the crash.
Morgan then received $108,000 through a health care benefit program and $30,000 in a civil lawsuit settlement.
Morgan was sentenced Wednesday to 27 months in prison and will pay more than $1.4 million in restitution.
