SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse men's lacrosse team rallied from a five-goal deficit to force overtime with UAlbany on Sunday but the Great Danes recovered to get their first-ever win over the Orange 16-15 in double-overtime on a goal by Onondaga Nation native Miles Thompson.

The Orange, ranked No. 13 in the USILA coaches' poll, fell behind 4-0 in the first quarter and 8-3 in the second before rallying to tie the game 9-9 in the third. UAlbany responded with a 4-0 run and led 14-10 in the fourth quarter before the Orange rallied to tie it at 15 with 2:52 remaining. Syracuse had the ball at the end of regulation and the first overtime but was denied each time by Great Danes freshman goalie Blaze Riordan, who finished with 13 saves.

Senior JoJo Marasco led Syracuse with three goals and five assists and freshman Dylan Donahue also had a hat trick, scoring each of his three goals in the fourth quarter.

Syracuse, which had won each of its 10 previous meetings with UAlbany, next plays Army at the Carrier Dome this coming Sunday.
