SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Carol Baldwin fired a strike to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Night at Alliance Bank Stadium on Friday night. Carol was joined by her son William to throw out the first pitch, as well as raise money during a Pink Cocktail dinner.
The players also wore pink uniforms and swung pink bats. William Baldwin said that with the down economy, his mother's foundation has begun partnering with more local organizations like the Chiefs.
"With the way things are going, you have to go grassroots, and you have to go with these microevents. You can't always try to go out and raise a half million dollars or a million dollars. Sometimes you raise ten, sometimes you raise 25,000," said William Baldwin, actor.
To date, the Carol Baldwin Foundation has raised more than $7 million for breast cancer research.
